Harry Potter fans have a magical reason to celebrate. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter films, is officially returning to the wizarding world. For the first time ever, a Harry Potter film actor will join the stage version, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Felton will take on the role of an older Draco in the Broadway production at New York’s Lyric Theatre for 19 weeks, starting from November 11.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child continues the story of the original series, set 19 years after the final book. The play features Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they send their children to Hogwarts. Since premiering in London’s West End in 2016, it has become the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, with over 10 million tickets sold worldwide.
Now 37 years old, Felton is returning to a character he first played as a child. He called the experience surreal and said it’s a full-circle moment since he is now the same age as Draco in the play. Fans got a sneak peek through an Instagram video where Felton, wearing Draco’s classic blonde wig and black robes, picked up his wand and delivered the iconic line, “Scared, Potter?”

Producers of the show expressed their excitement, saying Tom’s return brings nostalgia and emotion, reconnecting generations of fans. Felton’s stage appearance follows his previous theatre work, including his West End debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2022. He also wrote a memoir titled Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard, offering fans a personal look at his journey in the Harry Potter world.
Tickets for Felton’s Broadway debut go on general sale on June 12, with pre-sale opening two days earlier. As excitement builds, Felton’s return is sure to attract long-time fans and bring new energy to the magical stage story.
Meanwhile, HBO recently revealed the young cast for its upcoming TV series based on the original Harry Potter books, marking another exciting chapter for the beloved franchise.
