Gemini’s Smartest AI Yet Joins Deep Research

Google is stepping up its AI game by bringing its most advanced model, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, to the Deep Research feature. This smart upgrade is currently available only to paid users of Gemini Advanced, while those using the free version will continue with the older Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking model.

Deep Research is Google’s AI-powered tool that helps users perform in-depth research, analyze topics, and generate detailed reports. It was first released in December 2024 for Gemini Advanced users and later became available to all users in 2025. Now, with Gemini 2.5 Pro powering the tool, users can expect even better performance.

According to Google, the new model improves the way Deep Research handles information. It can think more deeply, organize complex data, and present it in a smarter and clearer way. This means better research planning, web searching, data gathering, and final report creation. The AI can even analyze data from different fields to build a complete and detailed output.

In testing, Gemini 2.5 Pro showed strong results in analytical reasoning and information processing. Google said that internal reviewers preferred reports generated using this model over others, especially for research depth and clarity.

Gemini 2.5 Pro is also the first in the Gemini family to come with built-in reasoning capabilities. This makes it a perfect fit for research tasks where smart decision-making is key.

Right now, only Gemini Advanced users can try the new model through the web or mobile apps on Android and iOS. Free-tier users can still use Deep Research, but with the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking version.

As AI tools keep growing, Google’s move to bring its smartest model to a research-based feature shows how serious the company is about giving users more powerful and intelligent experiences.
