Google I/O 2025: Big Changes Coming Soon

Google’s annual developer conference, I/O 2025, promises major announcements across its product ecosystem when it kicks off May 20-21 at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre. Following recent Android-focused reveals, the event will likely showcase significant AI advancements and quality-of-life mobile improvements.

Android 16 is expected to take center stage with practical upgrades including enhanced notifications, Auracast support for seamless Bluetooth switching, and new lock screen widgets. The update will also introduce expanded accessibility features, building on Google’s commitment to inclusive design.

The AI spotlight will shine on Gemini, with rumors suggesting an upgraded Gemini Ultra model and potential new subscription tiers. Google may unveil Premium Plus and Premium Pro plans, expanding beyond the current $20/month Gemini Advanced offering. Developers anticipate details about Project Astra’s multimodal AI apps and Project Mariner’s web-navigating agents, following code leaks hinting at “Computer Use” capabilities.

Beyond core products, sessions will cover Chrome, Google Cloud, Play Store innovations, and Gemma’s open AI models. Last year’s surprise LearnLM announcement suggests possible reveals like enhanced versions of NotebookLM or new video summary tools powered by Veo 2 technology.

With AI integration reaching deeper into Google’s services, I/O 2025 will likely chart the company’s course for the next generation of intelligent, connected experiences across devices and platforms.
