Apple has rolled out iOS 18.4 Beta 4 for developers and beta testers, focusing on bug fixes and performance improvements. While it doesn’t introduce major new features, this update enhances Apple Intelligence, Siri, Notifications, and Live Activities.
According to Apple’s changelog, the update resolves three key issues with Apple Intelligence. Previously, users needed Siri enabled for Apple Intelligence in languages other than English (US), and some faced errors like “Downloading support…” or required a device reboot for AI features to work. These issues have now been fixed.
Notifications have also been improved, addressing a glitch that caused flickering or collapsing. Additionally, Siri’s language support has been refined, ensuring smooth performance for languages beyond English. Other bug fixes include improvements for SwiftUI, StoreKit, Wi-Fi calling, Writing Tools, and enhancements for the Apple Vision Pro app.
A new feature introduced in this update is Nearby Interaction. This allows apps with Live Activities to use Ultra Wideband technology for real-time distance detection between devices. This could enhance interactive experiences and improve real-time notifications.
Alongside iOS 18.4 Beta 4, Apple has also released developer beta updates for iPadOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and watchOS 11.4. The stable iOS 18.4 version is expected to be available in April 2025.
