Snap’s New Bitmoji Game Tools Are Changing AR Fun

Snapchat is leveling up its augmented reality capabilities with fresh tools that let developers build interactive Bitmoji games. The social media platform has introduced new features in Lens Studio 5.10 specifically designed to create more engaging gaming experiences using personalized Bitmoji avatars.

The update brings several key enhancements for AR creators. A new turn-based system enables back-and-forth gameplay where users can snap challenges and respond within the same game. Developers now have access to a customizable Character Controller that supports multiple gameplay perspectives including third-person, first-person, side-scroller, and top-down views. The improved leaderboard system offers new templates and displays friend rankings alongside global scores.

Alongside these technical upgrades, Snapchat is launching a Bitmoji Suite that gives creators more ways to personalize digital avatars. The tools allow for designing custom Bitmoji outfits, generating stylized props, and applying animations from Snap’s library. To showcase these new capabilities, Snapchat has released several ready-to-play Bitmoji Game Lenses including Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Buckets, and Beatmoji Blast – all designed with social competition in mind.

This marks the first time Snapchat has curated an official collection of Bitmoji-powered games focused on challenging friends. The company is encouraging its community of 375,000+ AR creators to experiment with these new tools through its Bitmojiverse Challenge, which offers cash prizes for the most innovative implementations.

These developments represent Snapchat’s continued investment in augmented reality as both a social and gaming platform. By blending personalized avatars with interactive gameplay, the company is creating new ways for users to connect and compete through their digital identities.
