WhatsApp’s New AI Writing Help – Change How You Text

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Writing Help that brings artificial intelligence right into your chats. This tool lets you rephrase, proofread, or change the tone of your messages with just a tap. Whether you want your message to sound professional, supportive, funny, or simply reworded, the AI gives you fresh suggestions instantly.

The company uses Meta’s Private Processing technology to power this feature. This means your original text and the AI’s suggestions are processed securely without being read by WhatsApp and Meta. Your conversations stay private even when you use the new tool.

For example, a simple message like “please don’t leave dirty socks on the sofa” can be reimagined with humor as “Please don’t make the sofa a sock graveyard” or “Breaking news: Socks found chilling on the couch. Please move them. “This playful side makes chatting more creative while still keeping the conversation natural.

WhatsApp hopes Writing Help will keep people inside the app when drafting their texts, instead of turning to external platforms like ChatGPT. While the feature adds convenience, not everyone may want AI to polish personal messages. Many users prefer authentic chats with friends and family, but for quick edits or professional wording, this tool could be very useful.

To try it out, users can tap the new pencil icon when writing a message. The feature is rolling out in English first, starting with select countries.
