YouTube is currently testing a new subscription plan that could help users save money. This new option allows two people to enjoy the benefits of YouTube Premium at a lower cost. The plan is being tested in select countries including India, France, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It’s designed for people living together who want ad-free videos, background play, and other Premium features but don’t need a full family plan.
This two-person plan works similarly to Spotify’s Duo plan. It targets those who want more value and flexibility. YouTube aims to attract users who may have canceled their Premium subscriptions due to recent price increases. Offering a more affordable plan could help YouTube grow its subscriber base and bring back users who left.
This move is part of YouTube’s strategy to offer more options for its global users. Earlier this year, YouTube launched another plan called Premium Lite, which offers ad-free viewing for a lower monthly price. Premium Lite is available in countries like the United States, Australia, Germany and Thailand.
YouTube says its Premium and Music subscriptions together now reach more than 125 million users worldwide, including those using trail versions. While there’s no official word yet on when or if the two-person plan will expand to more regions, this test shows that YouTube is actively exploring new ways to provide more value to its users.
