Popular Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a reported attack at his Mumbai residence. The actor sustained multiple stab injuries following an alleged intrusion into his home, located in an upscale neighborhood of the city.
According to Mumbai police, the incident occurred after midnight when a scuffle broke out between Khan and an unidentified intruder. While Khan’s family has not released an official statement, his publicity team described the incident as an “attempted burglary” but refrained from providing further details.
Khan was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he is currently undergoing surgery. The hospital’s chief operating officer, Niraj Uttamani, confirmed to BBC Marathi that the actor suffered six stab wounds, two of which were deep, with one located close to his spine. A team of specialist doctors is attending to him.
The Mumbai police have launched a full investigation into the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam stated that an argument ensued between the actor and the intruder after the latter gained entry to the house.
In a statement released Thursday morning, Khan’s team appealed to the media and fans to respect his privacy during this time, emphasizing that it is a police matter and promising to provide updates as the situation unfolds.
