Astrohaus, known for its distraction-free writing hardware, has announced its latest product at CES 2025: the Wordrunner. This new device taps into the growing popularity of mechanical keyboards while staying true to the company’s focus on helping writers avoid distractions.
The Wordrunner is essentially a mechanical keyboard with integrated features designed specifically for writers. It includes a “Wordometer” for tracking word count and a “sprint timer” to encourage focused writing sessions. By embedding these productivity tools directly into the hardware, Astrohaus aims to provide a more streamlined writing experience, bypassing the need for separate writing apps.
According to founder and CEO Adam Leeb, writers, who are among the most frequent keyboard users, have historically lacked dedicated professional-grade tools. While gamers enjoy a wealth of specialized hardware, writers have typically relied on general-purpose keyboards and additional software. The Wordrunner aims to change this by transforming the keyboard from a passive input device into an active partner in the writing process.
The keyboard features an aluminum construction, floating keys, and a distinctive red control knob. It is set to launch on Kickstarter in February, with shipping anticipated for late 2025.
