 Australian Comedian Magda Szubanski Announces Cancer Remission

Australian actress and comedian Magda Szubanski has shared uplifting news with her fans. She announced on Friday that she is now in remission after undergoing treatment for a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The beloved star, known for her roles in Kath and Kim, Babe, and Happy Feet, received a wave of support when she first revealed her diagnosis last year.

On Friday, Szubanski took to social media to share an update on her condition. Her message was characteristically honest and humorous. She said she had completed chemotherapy and offered this update: “Seems I’m not dead… So, phew, big relief.”

She explained that while remission is not the same as a cure, it is a very positive outcome. “It’s not a cure, but because I got a good remission, that hopefully means that I’ll keep the cancer at bay for a good long time”, she wrote.

Szubanski first became a household name in Australia during the early 2000s. She played Sharon Strzelecki, the netball – loving best friend in the hit sitcom Kath & Kim. Her character became iconic, and her comedy style won the hearts of audiences across the country.

She also found international success with her film roles. She voiced characters in the animated film Happy Feet and appeared in the beloved family movie Babe. Her work has made her one of Australia’s most recognized and loved entertainers.
