Australian Influencer Accused of Poisoning Her Baby for Donations

An Australian influencer has been accused of a shocking case of child abuse, with authorities alleging she poisoned her one-year-old daughter to gain online attention and solicit donations. The 34-year-old woman from Queensland reportedly portrayed herself as documenting her child’s battle with a severe illness, but police claim the story was a fabrication designed to manipulate her followers.

The case came to light after the child was admitted to the hospital in October, suffering from a critical medical condition. Medical professionals, concerned by the severity of the baby’s symptoms, alerted authorities. Following months of investigation, it was discovered that the woman had allegedly administered unauthorized prescription and over-the-counter medications to the infant, causing immense pain and distress.

Detectives revealed that between August and October, the mother sourced and used medications without approval, even utilizing leftover medicines intended for another individual in the household. Her efforts to conceal this activity reportedly included manipulating the medication records.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Paul Dalton condemned the actions as “repulsive,” adding that the woman’s behavior extended to creating exploitative content of her child in distress. Investigators claim she used these distressing videos to solicit funds, amassing a total of AUD 60,000 (approximately £30,500 or $37,300) via crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe.

GoFundMe has since stated its intention to refund the donations to contributors. Police clarified that no other individuals were found to be involved in the alleged abuse.

The woman now faces serious charges, including torture, poisoning, fraud, and creating child exploitation material. She is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

This case has sparked outrage, highlighting the dangers of exploiting social media for personal gain and the vulnerability of innocent children in such situations.
