70-Hour Hunt Ends with Arrest of Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker

After an intense 70-hour manhunt, Mumbai Police successfully apprehended Shariful Islam, the man accused of stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan. The arrest occurred in Thane during the early hours of Sunday, following a complex investigation that encountered several hurdles, including the detention of multiple suspects before identifying the main culprit.

The investigation initially faced confusion as authorities detained individuals who resembled the attacker seen in CCTV footage. These detentions included one individual brought to Bandra Police Station, who was later released after being cleared of involvement in the case.

On Saturday, another suspect, 31-year-old Aakash Kanojia, was detained aboard the Jnaneswari Express in Chhattisgarh’s Durg. Acting on information provided by Juhu Police Station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) located Kanojia in the train’s general coach. His criminal history and resemblance to the CCTV footage raised suspicions, but further investigation confirmed he was not the primary suspect.

Despite these challenges, law enforcement’s persistence led to the arrest of Shariful Islam, marking the conclusion of a high-stakes operation. The case highlights the determination of Mumbai Police in resolving such critical incidents and ensuring justice is served.
