WhatsApp Ends Support for Older iPhones – Check If Yours Is Affected!

WhatsApp is set to stop working on some older iPhone models, and the latest beta update has already blocked installation on these devices. Starting in May, users will need to ensure their iPhone is running iOS 15.1 or later to continue receiving WhatsApp updates. This move allows WhatsApp to integrate advanced features and take advantage of newer iOS technologies.

New iOS Requirement for Beta Testing

For beta testers, WhatsApp now requires iOS 15.1 or newer to install the latest version (25.1.10.72). If your iPhone is still running iOS 14 or earlier, you can update by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Install Now. However, this update is unavailable for older models like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s, making this the final stretch for these devices.

For those still using iOS 14 or older versions, you can easily update your iPhone. Simply go to Settings > General > Software Update, and then select Install Now. After updating, you’ll be able to install the latest beta version of WhatsApp.

Affected iPhone Models

WhatsApp’s stable version will continue supporting older iPhones until May 5, but after that, users must either update to iOS 15.1 or switch to a newer iPhone. The app’s official listing on the App Store already reflects this change, requiring iOS 15.1 or later for both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business starting in May.

If you’re using an older iPhone, now is the time to upgrade or risk losing access to one of the world’s most popular messaging apps! Stay updated and make sure your device meets the new requirements.
