Handcuffed, No Water Or AC On on US Flight: Shocking Treatment of Brazilians

Brazil is in an uproar after reports surfaced about the inhumane treatment of its citizens deported from the United States. The controversy has sparked outrage, with the Brazilian government demanding an official explanation from the US.

On a recent Friday night flight, 88 Brazilian deportees landed in Manaus, Brazil, only to be found handcuffed, with many suffering severe discomfort. The incident highlights the growing tension surrounding US President Donald Trump’s anti-immigration stance.

Brazilians aboard the flight shared disturbing accounts of their ordeal. Edgar Da Silva Moura, a 31-year-old computer technician, described the situation as unbearable. “We were tied hand and foot, given no water, and they wouldn’t even let us go to the bathroom,” Moura stated. He added that the extreme heat on the flight caused some passengers to faint. Another deportee, Luis Antonio Rodrigues Santos, mentioned that several people faced respiratory issues during the four-hour flight with no air conditioning.

Brazil’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the actions, calling it a “flagrant disregard” for human rights. The Brazilian government has urged the US to provide a detailed explanation and take accountability for the mistreatment of its citizens. Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski conveyed his concerns to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, emphasizing the violation of fundamental rights.

This incident underscores the ongoing tension and harsh realities faced by immigrants under Trump’s immigration policies, shedding light on the vulnerability of deported individuals in their desperate journey back home.
