Apple is teaming up with AI powerhouse Anthropic to supercharge Xcode, its popular coding platform. The tech giant plans to integrate advanced AI features, making coding faster and easier for developers. Last year, Apple introduced Swift Assist, an AI helper for Xcode. Now, they’re taking it further—AI will write, test, and even fix code automatically, reducing manual work.
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is testing this upgraded Xcode internally before a possible public release. The new version will use Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet AI model, enabling a cutting-edge feature called “vibe coding.” Coined by OpenAI’s Andrej Karpathy, this method lets developers describe what they want, and AI handles the rest—writing, editing, and deploying code seamlessly.
Apple was initially cautious about AI in consumer software but now sees its potential to speed up development. The new Xcode will include a chat interface where developers can type prompts, and the AI will generate or modify code. It also has a smart testing tool to check UIs and fix bugs—tasks that are usually time-consuming.
This isn’t Apple’s first AI partnership. They’ve already joined forces with OpenAI for ChatGPT integration in Apple Intelligence and are in talks with Google for Gemini support. In China, Baidu will power Apple’s AI features. With AI reshaping tech, Apple’s move could change how developers work forever.
