WhatsApp Now on iPad: Finally Here After Years of Waiting

After more than 15 years, WhatsApp has officially launched its native app for iPad. The long-awaited release is now available for download on the App Store and brings most of the same features as the iPhone version. Users can enjoy group audio and video calls with up to 32 people, share their screens, and use both front and rear cameras directly from the iPad.

The new app works smoothly with IPadOS features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. This means you can use WhatsApp side-by-side with other apps, making multitasking easier. For example, users can chat while browsing or watching videos, without switching between apps. This gives the iPad version a practical advantage over smaller devices.

Before this release, iPad users had to rely on the web version of WhatsApp or use desktop apps made for Mac or PC. Back in 2022, WhatsApp’s head Will Cathcart had mentioned that they were interested in building an app for iPad, responding to years of user requests.

The official WhatsApp account recently hinted at the release with a teaser emoji on X (formerly Twitter), but the quick launch still came as a surprise. There are also rumors that Meta might release an iPad version of Instagram, although nothing official has been shared yet.

With the new iPad app, WhatsApp users now have a much more flexible and enjoyable experience on larger screens, offering better multitasking, smoother communication, and more convivence than ever before.
