Snapchat’s New ‘Home Safe’ Feature Gives Peace of Mind

Snapchat has introduced a new feature called “Home Safe” that helps users keep friends and family updated about their safety after going out. Whether you’re coming back from a night out, a concert, or a quick trip, this new tool makes it easy to let someone know you’ve arrived home safety.

To start using Home Safe, you need to set your home location. Open Snap Map by tapping your Bitmoji, then choose “My Home”. When you’re heading out and want to notify someone when you get home, go to your chat with them, tap the Map icon, and hit the Home Safe button. The person will automatically get a message in the chat once you reach your home.

This feature only works with friends you already share your location with. Snapchat reminds users that location sharing is off by default, so no one can track or receive updates unless you decide to share your location. It’s all about giving you control while keeping safety a top priority.

Snapchat says the Home Safe feature is perfect for moments when you’re returning from a first date, an event, or any outing where someone might be waiting to hear that you’re safe. It gives your loved ones peace of mind without needing to send messages manually.

This update comes just two months after Snapchat shared that Snap Map now has more than 400 million monthly users. Originally launched in 2017, Snap Map was built to show where your friends are and let users explore public snaps. Over time, it has added more features, helping people discover nearby places, local events, and fun things to do.

With Home Safe, Snapchat continues to grow its Safety tools and make social sharing more useful and caring.
