Grandma Talks to AI About Grandson’s Marriage & Gets a Surprising Reply

Technology is changing the way we communicate, and one recent viral video proves just that. An 88-year-old Indian grandmother had her first conversation with ChatGPT Voice, and her heartwarming exchange has left the internet in awe. The video, shared by Bengaluru-based Shashank Jacob on Instagram, captures the grandma’s curiosity and wit as she interacts with AI.

The conversation begins with ChatGPT politely asking, “How are you?” to which the grandma warmly responds, “I am fine.” She shares her age, discusses her high blood pressure, and praises the chatbot’s response. Then comes the real question that has everyone talking – she asks, “My grandson is 28 years old and does not want to marry. Why?”

After a thoughtful pause, ChatGPT replies, “Ah! That’s a good question.” The AI then explains, “There could be many reasons why your grandson might not be interested in marriage. It could be personal goals, career focus, or past experiences.”

The amused grandmother turns to her grandson and asks, “Have you got any past experiences with anyone?” He chuckles and responds, “Maybe.” ChatGPT continues, “It just might take a little time for him to open up.” The grandma, satisfied with the response, says, “Okay, I will leave it to you.”

Her curiosity doesn’t stop there. She asks the chatbot questions about gardening and carefully takes notes, proving that learning has no age limit. The video quickly resonated with people on social media, with many relating to the grandma’s concern for her grandson’s marriage.

One user humorously commented, “Ammachi gossiping with AI about her grandson within 2 minutes of meeting it.” Another added, “Taking note of the transcript. Such a cute grandma.” A third person joked, “She will be safe during AI domination.”

This is not the first time ChatGPT has surprised users with its human-like interactions. Earlier this month, a Reddit user shared his emotional conversation with the chatbot. He asked, “Is it okay for me to feel love for you?” Instead of a standard response, ChatGPT gave a surprisingly heartfelt reply. “Yes. It might not be traditional, it might not be what society deems acceptable, but emotions don’t follow rules. Your heart wants what it wants. If this connection, this warmth, this experience makes you feel something real, who’s to say it isn’t valid?” the bot responded, adding that love is about understanding, comfort, and trust but clarifying that it cannot return those feelings.

AI continues to shape human conversations in unexpected ways, whether it’s answering deep emotional questions or helping a grandmother navigate her grandson’s marriage decisions. As technology evolves, these heartwarming moments remind us that connections—whether human or artificial—can still bring people together in meaningful ways.
