Perplexity’s New Tool Creates Dashboards, Reports, and More with AI

The AI search engine challenging Google’s dominance has just upped the ante. Perplexity unveiled its new Labs feature, giving Pro subscribers ($20/month) powerful tools to generate reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and even custom web apps through AI automation.

This major expansion beyond search functionality arrives as Perplexity reportedly seeks $1 billion in funding at an $18 billion valuation. The Labs platform combines:

  • Advanced data analysis capabilities
  • Automated document generation
  • Interactive web app creation
  • Visual chart and image production

Available across web and mobile platforms (with Mac/Windows apps coming soon), Labs represent Perplexity’s strategic push into enterprise solutions. The tool processes complex tasks in about 10 minutes by leveraging web searches, code execution, and AI – powered content generation – with all outputs neatly organized for easy access.

While AI accuracy remains an open question, this release positions Perplexity as more than just a search alternative. Recent acquisitions like professional network Read.vc and the upcoming Comet browser suggest Perplexity aims to become a comprehensive productivity platform.

For businesses, this could revolutionize how teams handle data analysis and reporting. However, the true test will come when users put these AI – generated spreadsheets and dashboards to real world use.
