WhatsApp’s About Feature Gets a Major Upgrade

WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for its long-standing About feature, giving it a modern look and improved visibility. With this upgrade, users can now share short text updates or emojis that stay active for 24 hours. These updates appear at the top of chats, inside profile pages, and can even be used as a quick reply option. The new design looks similar to Instagram Notes and is meant for sharing simple thoughts or quick moments with friends.

A More Visible and Interactive About Status

According to WhatsApp, the refreshed About status is now easier to see and interact with. Users can post short updates to let others know if they are busy, travelling, or celebrating somethings special. These updates appear at the top of one-to-one chats, and anyone who sees them can tap to reply instantly.

WhatsApp also allows users to choose how long their About status stays visible. while it expires in 24 hours by default, you can change the timer to make it disappear sooner or last longer. This options is available under Settings > Set About, where you can pick a custom duration.

More Control Over Privacy

The update gives users more control over who can view their About status. You can share it with all your contacts or limit it to a selected group through privacy settings. WhatsApp confirmed that this new version of the About feature is rolling out to mobile users across all regions.

More New Features on the Way

WhatsApp has also been adding several other features recently. Apple Watch users can now download the official WhatsApp app on newer models like the Apple Watch Series 4 and above. The platform has also introduced a Media Hub to make it easier to manage shared photos, videos, and files on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Mac.

In addition, WhatsApp is testing multi-account support for iOS users and working on stronger security settings to protect accounts from cyberattacks. The company is also preparing a username-based search and calling feature, which may arrive in a future update.
